Radio Mowzey’s Murder Suspect denied bail

High court judge Jane Frances Abodo has declined to release on bail Godfrey Wamala alias Troy the prime suspect in the murder of local musician Moses Sekibogo alias Mowzey Radio.

Troy through his lawyer Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi asked court to be released on bail pending his trial before the High court in Entebbe.

“Although the grounds for bail application are genuine with substantial sureties, this court has the desecration to either grant bail or deny it given the circumstances in some cases. This case is of a grave nature and releasing the applicant (Wamala) the public is at risk,” Justice Abodo ruled.

She also promised to write to the registrar at Entebbe High Court to have his cause listed as soon as possible.

Wamala through his lawyer Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi had asked court to be released on bail pending his trial before the High court in Entebbe.

Rwakafuzi had also told court that there is likelihood of delay in cause- listing his client’s murder case given the busy schedule of the court and the many cases in the court system which considers first in -first out system.

Wamala had presented three sureties who are his relatives as an assurance that he will return to court to attend his trial.

“Since he is already committed for trial, he has no chance to interfere with any investigations,” Mr Rwakafuuzi said.

Prosecution states that Wamala and Mowzey Radio had brawl at a bar known as ‘De bar’ in Entebbe on the 22nd January 2018.

On Monday this week,Troy through his lawyer Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi, asked court to release him on bail pending trial.

Among the grounds which he mentioned out is that he has a fixed place of abode under the authority of this court, substantial sureties and he has a presumption of innocence.

Troy has presented three guarantees who are his relatives whom Rwakafuzi informed court that have been thoroughly explained on their duties as sureties.

Prosecution alleges Troy to have murdered the talented pencil thin musician after throwing him on the floor on the 22nd January 2018 that later led to his death on 1st February 2018.

Days after Radio’s death, Troy was arrested having been picked up from his hideout in Kyengera, Wakiso District. Troy is alleged to have assaulted and pushed Radio to the ground while at Entebbe based hangout De Bar. The singer became unconscious and was rushed to Nsambya hospital before he was moved to Case Clinic, where he died from later.
