White: Khabib being stripped of title will depend on NSAC | Trendsmedia.
UFC president Dana White will abide by Nevada State Athletic Commission’s decision on whether Khabib Nurmagomedov will be stripped of the title or not.
Khabib Nurmagomedov was able to successfully defend his title with a win over Conor McGregor via fourth round submission. But after the post-fight melee involving him, some of his teammates, and McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis, the fate of “The Eagle” as champion is now hanging in the balance.
During the post-fight media scrum, UFC president Dana White was asked if Khabib would be stripped of the title after the said incident. According to the company executive, all of it will depend on the final decision of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
“No, it’s not 100% (that Khabib won’t be stripped),” White told media members. “The thing is, we’re regulated by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, or whatever state we’re in. The Nevada State Athletic Commission is gonna go after him, I’m sure pretty hard. He doesn’t have to worry about me right now, he has to worry about Nevada.”
“The governor was here tonight. The governor went running out of the building. That’s not good.”
White added that Khabib will likely get stripped if he ends up being slapped with a lengthy suspension.
“The Nevada State Athletic Commission is gonna hand down some type of fine, suspension, or whatever’s gonna happen,” White said. “It’s up to them, we’ll see.”
“Listen, if he gets suspended, depends on how long his suspension is, and yeah, he’s probably gonna get stripped if it’s a long suspension.”
White also confirmed that Khabib’s fight purse has been withheld by the NSAC.
