Jinja Hospital suspends two intern doctors for getting Shs100k bribe to conduct a c-section delivery that led to the loss of the baby’s arm | Trendsmedia.

The management of Jinja Regional Referral Hospital has suspended two junior doctors over unprofessional conduct. The two yet-to-be disclosed intern doctors conducted a c-section delivery on a mother over the weekend and unfortunately in the process cut off the arm of the baby.

“Though it is an accident, but somehow these interns acted unprofessionally,” said Dr Edward Nkurunziza, the Director of of Jinja Regional Referral Hospital.

Furthermore Dr Nkurunziza revealed that although the two junior are to blame, the senior doctor who directed them to carry out the operation is also accountable for the incident.

“As a senior doctor, he had to be in a calling distance when the operation was going on. For this, he is also going to be blamed and punished,” Nkurunziza said.

The director also disclosed on the alleged bribe that occurred before the c-section was carried out.

“We are investigating reports of how the two junior doctors solicited for Shs100,000 bribe to carry out the operation,” he said.
