Frey loses Invicta title on the scales | Trendsmedia.

Jinh Yu Frey was due to defend her title at Friday night’s Invicta FC 39.

The weigh-ins for Invicta FC 39 wrapped up earlier today in Kansas City, KS. The results were disastrous as far as the scheduled main event goes. An Invicta FC atomweight title fight between champion Jinh Yu Frey (8-4) and challenger Ashley Cummins (7-4) had been planned, but that can’t happen now.

Frey, who won the belt after beating Minna Grusander at Invicta FC 30 in 2018, weighed in at 105.8 lbs. With no one-pound allowance in title fights, this means Frey missed weight by less than a pound. She effectively lost her title on the scales.

Cummins did make weight (104.5 lbs). If she beats Frey on Friday night she will win the Invicta FC atomweight title. If Frey wins, the title will become vacant.

Everyone else who weighed in did so successfully. However, Invicta and Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series veteran Shanna Young did not make it to the scales due to illness. That means her bout with Daiana Torquato is off. Young was a late replacement for Mariya Agapova, who pulled out of the fight last week due to injuries sustained in a auto-pedestrian accident.

Invicta FC 39 goes down on Friday night at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City. The event will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass, starting at 8PM ET.

Here are the full weigh in results for Invicta FC 39:
