Check out the midweek betting odds for Saturday’s UFC 247 event, where Jon Jones is favored over Dominick Reyes in the main event.

UFC 247 goes down this Saturday (February 8th) from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The promotion's light heavyweight and women’s flyweight titles will be on the line in the main and co-main events. Bloody Elbow is here with the midweek betting lines.

In the card’s featured match-up, polarizing MMA icon Jon Jones returns to action to defend his 205-pound belt against the 12-0 undefeated Dominick Reyes. Surprise surprise, Jones is again heavily favored to come away with the win. The defending champ is sporting a sizable -420 moneyline, with Reyes situated with a hefty underdog value of +335.

Let’s be honest for a second. Up until this point, Jon Jones has been the only person to defeat Jon Jones. Granted, Reyes is undefeated, however, he has recently beat two real middleweights in Chris Weidman and Jared Cannonier, a journeyman in OSP, and a legit split decision over Volkan Oezdemir. Reyes is super athletic in a division where it matters most, but it’s understandable why the bookies label him as such a large underdog against an arguable G.O.A.T.

The co-main event of UFC 247 will see dominant flyweight queen, Valentina Shevchenko, defend her crown against the division’s #1 contender, Katlyn Chookagian. Gamblers can lay the price on the defending champion at a monumental cost of -1100, or take the price on Chookagian for +700.

Shevchenko seems to be miles and miles ahead of everyone else in her weight class, which is why she has been such a huge betting favorite since dropping down from 135-pounds. This bout marks four out of her last five fights in which her moneyline exceeds -1000, with Joanna Jędrzejczyk being the only exception. Even against JJ, she was a -320 favorite. Chookagian has won four out of her five flyweight fights, all by way of decision. Her only loss came to Jessica Eye in a split decision. If MMA math is your thing, which it shouldn’t be, don’t forget that Eye was slept by Shevchenko with that brutal highlight reel head kick. Chookagian has a ton of talent, but her strength is also Shevchenko’s strength, and the champ has proven to be better at it. It’s clear why the odds are the way they are.
