Colby Covington went full Colby Covington in a feature interview today.

Colby Covington had his day in the media sun today, and he did his best to blame everyone but himself for his UFC 245 defeat at the hands of welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. In an interview with ESPN, Covington managed to point fingers at referee Marc Goddard, the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and Usman himself for illegal blows in the fight.

He also claimed that he didn’t break his jaw, despite him being the one that told his corner is was broken during the fight.

“No I didn’t break my jaw in that fight. Does my jaw look broken? I’ve been smiling, I’ve been with all my mamacitas,”

Covington also wants to know why his corner was recorded and taped where he revealed the possible broken jaw in between rounds, believing that it could have inspired Usman (via MMA Fighting):

“Is that legal that they can get my corner audio in between rounds? Whether my jaw is broken or it isn’t broken, to get that information in a world championship fight when there’s two rounds left to go. That’s huge information,” Covington said.

“I don’t care if you’re down and you’re completely ready to quit. That’s going to get you right up like, ‘I’ve got this guy on the ropes now.’ That’s f—king corrupt in itself.”

Here’s what he had to say about Goddard:

“When he’s hitting me in the back of the head, I even actually cover and put my hand behind it to stop it while I’m completely coherent, completely still in the fight, and all of a sudden Marc Goddard just calls the fight. I’m like are you f—king serious? I stood up and I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’ [He says], ‘Oh Colby don’t worry about it,’ saying stupid things (like) ‘that was clearly stopped.’ If it’s clearly stopped, why am I right in your face talking to you clearly? I’m coherent. I’m completely in the fight. How do you call the fight? You rob me of a f—king fair fight, motherf—ker.”

...

“It was two against one that f—king night, Dec. 14 at UFC 245,” Covington said. “It wasn’t one on one. I got robbed of a one-on-one fair fight. That motherf—ker made a clear difference in that fight, and if ‘Marty Fakenewsman’ didn’t have that f—king ref, I’d be world champion right now, and I’m going to get my f—king rematch and it’s going to be a different story.”

Regardless of Covington’s weak demands, UFC president Dana White has indicated that Usman will defend his title against Jorge Masvidal next.
